Internal migration and mobile communication patterns among pairs with strong ties

Using large-scale call detail records of anonymised mobile phone service subscribers with demographic and location information, we investigate how a long-distance residential move within the country affects communication patterns between an ego who moved frequently called alter did not move. By using clustering methods in analysing frequency time series, find that such ego-alter pairs are grouped into two clusters, those increasing decreasing after ego. This indicates moves correlated change pattern soon moving. We pre-move calling behaviour is relevant predictor for post-move behaviour. While information can help predicting whether will rise or decay, they actual volume. also note at four months move, most these close maintain contact, even if decreased.
